Getting Ready for Deer Season 2020

I went out and shot my rifle yesterday. I shot at an old barn and hit it 2 out of 3 times, I should be good to go! Another thing is that I have left false trails, videos, fake tracks, and fake hooks in a spot to throw my evil brothers, Satan and Beezelbub, off of where I am really going to hunt. It starts this weekend Good Luck everyone!

Squirrel Camp 2020

I just talked to my evil brother (no the other one) Satan. He was pulling out of his driveway in Gulfport after the Hurricane heading to camp. The coast has no water, no electricity and half the roads are blocked, but this did not deter him from heading North. He even managed to ignore the continuous beating on the drivers side window and curses hurled at him for 5 blocks before he could get rid of his devoted wife, Wanda. Isn't 2020 great. It is Squirrel Camp Week so get ready.

Working Through The Pandemic

Trent went to camp last weekend to screw around and hunt a little bit. Bill Hart went with him but he was serious. He was going to blast a hog no matter what. Hard work and patience rewarded him as he got two hogs. Some people are still working during this virus shutdown.

Gar Holes and Good Friends

Last weekend was the opener for turkey season at the famous and virus free Christmas Place.
My brother had a big crew of all his best friends down for the hunt and everyone had a great time.
Paul strategically placed them around the property to hunt while he just wandered to someplace in the woods to watch nature and enjoy the outdoors. None of his friends killed a turkey, They did hear turkeys gobbling though and guess where. Exactly where Paul was sitting. How bizarre and completely expected from the rest of the camp members. BLAM! Paul put this nice gobbler down and was back at the camp in no time to greet his weary friends back from the gar holes he had placed them all in.

Hog Hunt 2020

The famous Christmas Place was bustling with activity as all our guests began arriving for the big hunt last weekend. We had the Minnesota boys, Paul and his crew of crooked shooters, My brother Wandering James, Matt the banker, Marko Hoggo and a slew of others there to kill a hog. Burney has been baiting them for 3 weeks and everything looked great.
The weather was the best it has ever been and we spent almost all of our time out around a campfire telling lies, reminiscing about old times and imbibing in spirits
Matt came through with a fine hog off Joe's Stand.

The Minnesota connection did not get a hog but we got their picture

Sorry For Not Writing

Well, I've been busying. It s hard to run a crooked real estate company and blog too. Now that the horrible, ugly no-good, rotten deer season is over, maybe I can write a few lines on the screwed up hunts we had.
Now that my evil brother, no Trent, has won his Judges election, I am way too busy listening to people come in who want me to fix tickets or get them out of a jam even though I swear to them I can't help them. There seems to be a lot of money in this but I digress...........
Here is a pic of Trent with his solid oak and gold inlaid gavel.

Baby Willow Has Arrived

This Saturday while I was desperately trying to kill a damn deer, baby Willow arrived to show me that getting a deer was not as important as I thought. My daughter, Sarah, had the baby on her own birthday. That should be easy to remember. We are heading to South Carolina to see her ASAP.
Now remember, baby Willow will probably be the only decent deer hunter in the new crop of kids we have, so it is important you send hunting stuff now.
New boots size 11
.270 bullets
camo clothing men's large
new grunt call
etc etc- boy will she be happy!

Joe Gets His Just Desserts

Joe Newman finally got what he deserved this past weekend while visiting the Famous Christmas Place. Joe has hunted off and on with us for years and has never asked for anything except to chip in and work to help us. He has taken people fishing, worked on the camphouse, fixed all kinds of machinery, helped with planting, deer stands, and fixing our road and bridge. He is also involved with hosting the ershel Howell Memorial Squirrel Hunt.
Pau invited Joe this time to go out and shoot a big deer, Joe was excited and glad to finally have the opportunity and received his just desserts when this big bruiser came out on him in the middle of the afternoon. A job well done and much deserved. Congratulations Joe!!

Thankful for Deer Season, umm I mean Thanksgiving

Paul the Bloody managed to take this diseased, radioactive buck off the Christmas Place over the Thanksgiving Holiday. As you all know, he had no words to describe his great luck or at least I tuned him out after 5 minutes. Congratulations Paul!

His Finger Hurts

To  everyone,

Wanda and I spent from Tuesday night until Sunday at the camp working on various projects, but primarily completion of the bulldozer work which cost $3,000.00.  The bulldozer operator was Tom Gordon and he did an excellent job.  We got roads opened to The Graveyard, The Mountain, Sand Ditch, The Indian Mound, The Levy, The Hill Beyond The Lake, Arrowhead Field, Beaver Dam, The Hole, Stupid Stand, below Double White Oak, The Big Woods at Double White Oak, The Box Stand Field, and The Secret Field.  We also worked on the roads at Crossover, Spike Camp, the main road past Spike Camp, Negotiation Log, and Kudzu Road.  We built a new road with a ford that connects Pond Stand Corner to The Elbow.  We also removed big trees and stumps below the camp and at The Elbow.  Finally, we removed Dad’s garden which had become an eye sore.  None of the roads in the hills need to be driven on with a tractor until we get a big rain that packs the dirt down.

It is still way too early to plant our food plots.  Therefore, I see no need to have the seed for this weekend’s work weekend.  (However, we could put some rye grass, etc. on the steepest parts of the roads to help prevent erosion and where the garden was in order to make it look better.  In addition, I would recommend that we put some Triple 13 around the walnut trees in The Witch’s Yard and clear out some of the grass across the road from them where some young walnut trees are growing.)  I would recommend that we plan to plant the weekends of October 12 and October 19.  (Remember, the Squirrel Hunt is planned for the weekend of October 26.)

Instead of planting this weekend, we need to finish the disking in the big fields in the Delta and repair deer stands.  (Paul Jones is not planting his fields until October 19.)

All of the equipment appears to be working except the green tractor and Rex’s four wheeler.  (Paul Jones will look at the green tractor and Rex’s four wheeler probably just needs charging, like the others needed.)  The bush hog and the disc are fixed.

Wanda has the camp in great shape.  However, we could not find the missing burglar alarm which needs to be reactivated as soon as possible.

Finally, the ticks, mosquitos, and gnats are the worst since we have been at The Christmas Place.  Be sure to apply plenty of insect repellant.

See you all at the camp this weekend.

Paul B. Howell, Esq.

His finger is sore from all the pointing he did for the bulldozer guy
