Hillbillys On Campus

So we jump in the Caddy and head to Oxford. It's Me, Denise, Camo, Dad, Aunt Maralyn and Thunderhoof all crammed in there together. I told Thunderhoof he looked funny wearing a tie and he said I look funny wearing shoes.
We met Paul and Wanda at the door to the Ford Center and hurried in. It was a wonderful event and of course Hillary was absolutely beautiful and didn't even fall down crossing the stage to receive her medal. We gave Hillary a bouquet of Roses and enjoyed the following reception with all the honorees. Thunderhoof and Camo managed to eat about half the little cupcakes until we made them go outside. Almost had to put Paul out there with them.
Afterward Camo wanted pancakes but we ended up going to Newts for a late pizza. It really was a fun night for everyone.

Hillary Makes The Grade

Hillary Howell aka Armadillo Girl has made the grade at Ole Miss. Tonight she is receiving the Taylor Medal at Ole Miss for her outstanding merits and dedication to the University. A recipient must have a 3.9 average. She has kept a perfect 4.00 all through her college career. Hillary Succeeds! Tonight we are going to put on our finest bib overhauls and polish our boots to go see her receive this wonderful award as she starts her new life.

Bubba's In Green

That's right, Bubba wins the Masters and I can't even get to the golf course. Of course I do know that I can shank a wedge sideways around a tree too.
It was a great tournament and hopefully I can get out this week and hit the ball around. My caddie (Camo) keeps running off with my ball and wants to drive the cart all the time so I may leave her butt at home.
Golf Season has Arrived!

The Big Shindig

Yes, the big party of the year, the big social event of the season is tonight. This is the night where all the Who's-Whos in Whoville come down and hover at the big glitzy party that Snooky and Mary Lou Williams host at their home each year after the Chamber of Commerce meeting.
Whiskey will flow, secret business deals for us 1% will be made, and there will be plenty of cigars and sleazy women. What a great party!
They have food, music, waiters in white, booze and about anything you could want. They even have valet parking.
All of us Illuminati will be there to plot the takeover of the hunting world. Will see you there!

Kim's Bridge To Nowhere

In the continuing saga of Kim's Folly there is another twist that brings us to swapping the land for a larger piece in a typical middle of nowhere location.
The only holdup is that the property needs a bridge built over a deep ravine that would swallow Cox's Army. In my brilliance I have worked out a deal that might net us not one but possibly two bridges to open up the property for us.
The bridges are all metal and look like you could drive the biggest
bulldozer in the world across them. A new problem is how in the
hell can I get them from Charleston, Ms to the property that is
over 40 miles away?

Should this be Kim's bridge to Nowhere or the Bridge on the River Kim?

The Turkey Trek

This weekend I am heading to the Christmas Place for my annual Turkey Hunt. Should be equal to the rest of the hunts I've had.
Denise is going with me and we have decided on a new place to try out the metal detector. That might be fun. Camo is really looking forward to it! Hopefully the beautiful weather will hold and we will have a fun and relaxing time. See you Monday!

Recently Spotted

The camp members have been all aflutter after this fella was recently spotted on our property. He had a dead coyote in one hand and a wild hog under his other arm. Thank God he is helping out around the place! I need to warn him to lay low though, heaven help him if he comes between my Dad and a big old Gobbler.

Hershel Hears A Hoot

No turkeys were taken this weekend at the Christmas Place. Good news is that Dad finally did hear a turkey gobble. There is some nasty talk that this could not possibly happen unless the turkey was actually in the blind with Dad.
In all fairness to him, the picture to the right is misleading. Dad did not use an ear trumpet when he served in the Revolutionary War.

The Ancient Trunk

Paul and I found the old trunk easier than you might think. As kids we had a desire to collect old artifacts of all kinds. Arrowheads, old coins, old bottles, whatever was old and might be valuable one day. I can't tell you how many old creeks we walked, how many old dumps we dug in or how many old hearths and floorboards we checked. We both have an eye for things like that and realizing that the old bathroom was not as deep as it should be intrigued us. Breaking into the small space we found the old trunk. It is well preserved and full of parts of journals, photographs from the turn of the century and how the Christmas Place became a hunting legend. The man behind it all was Horatio S. Christmas, the famed explorer and big game hunter. A man obsesssed with the rarest, most extraordinary creatures in the world.

Under The Lake

Needless to say, all members (especially Burney) and GUESTS (you know who you are) have been banned from swimming in the lake.

An Old Picture

The old home on the Christmas Place held many clues to it's mysterious past. Hidden in an old trunk we found this picture from 1937. No names but boldly written on the back were the words. Tasted like chicken! Hmmmm....

Christmas Place Camera Tour

I recently took this picture of one of our many strange creatures around the property. We don't see many of them as they are very reclusive. Paul says they taste like chicken.

Spring Camera Tour

At this time of year the famous Christmas Place is beautiful. Dogwoods are blooming and the big forest are a joy to walk in. So in honor of the striking sights to be seen on the property, I have decided to post pictures of not only the beauty here but of some of the commonly seen strange sights that you have heard about.
Here is a picture of the lake and one of the darn critters there that we have to fish around. Damn thing will still your bait and stringer of fish too. So be careful while you are up there fishing.

Springtime For Thunderhoof

Spring is in the air at the famous Christmas Place. Everything is turning green and most days you can see Thunderhoof sunning himself in the large food plot beside the camp enjoying the weather. It is time for fishing, golf, cooking out and hunting turkeys. Dad is down there now hunting turkeys and chasing Thunderhoof out of the garden with a broom. Crappie fishing and turkey hunting, what could be better?

Hunting The Prom

Sarah enjoyed her Senior Prom this weekend. No hip boots, no fishing rod, no weapons and unfortunately no camoflague were allowed. So she dressed up in a knock 'em dead, beautiful prom dress and headed out with her friends. She looked fantastic and had a wonderful experience to remember from now on.

We are very proud of how she has handled herself as a Senior this year.

Thank You All

Thank you all, for the many nice birthday wishes sent my way this weekend. For your information, I did not win those millions of dollars at the casino I was expecting so you will have to put up with me a little while longer.
My dog thanks you, Thunderhoof thanks you and I thank you.

Bright Lights And Blonde Haired Women

Finally, Denise and I are going to take a long weekend and are headed to the famous Beau Rivage on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. A little warm weather, a little salt air, a little night life, and hitting the jackpot for 3 or 4 million dollars should get me jump started again. I will try and remember all you little people when I come back with all that money.

Dad and Sam-I-Am

Dad and Sam Goodwin like to get together when the crappie finally start biting and they are just now starting to bite like crazy. I think they caught a jillion this weekend. Here is Sam in action.

The Lammey Trap

Judge Jim Lammey leaned back in his leather chair, put his feet on the desk and gazed out the window. It had been another long day of goofing on the internet and oogling secretaries. A truck pulled into the lot outside, screeched to a halt, half blocking two spaces and a man hopped out and hurried up the steps to the courthouse holding a speeding ticket in his hand. Holy crap! He recognized him! It was Mark Stewart, his old hunting buddy. Judge Lammey thought a minute, picked up the phone and called downstairs to the courtroom.
Mark, the old Mailrider went to the desk to pay his ticket and the pretty little girl told him not to worry about it, he was only going a few miles over the limit and his license was in good standing. She tore up the ticket and wished him a good day.
Wow! What a stroke of luck, Mark thought as he practically skipped out the door and down the marble steps to his pickup. Unfortunately there was a brand new parking ticket in the center of his windshield. Damn! What a screw-up! He looked around, shook his head, got in the truck and drove off.
Judge Lammey, peeping out the window, almost had a heart-attack laughing so hard.

Hogs and Turkeys and Fish, OH MY!

It is spring at the famous Christmas Place and there are a lot of things to do and see. Grab your fishing pole, your turkey call or your favorite rifle and head on down.
