Ebenezer

Ebenezer, MS> Last weekend we went exploring and found the little town of Ebenezer. This is on the old maps from 1850. All that is left is an old country store with the old Post Office still attached.
Next door was an old metal barn that used to be the Movie House.
Several old homes around the store were in excellent condition with all the gingerbread still on the homes. Look at the detail on this beautiful old home.

Every now and then you can come across one of these old communities and they are fading fast as folks just dont keep them up any more. Many of these communities are still owned by the old folks and their money is so that they cant afford to fix them back up. The architecture of these homes are a dieing breed long lost to a new building group that just doesn't have any concept for the beauty of the old style of homes we grew up with. These homes are the memories of us old timers, thanks for the wonderful photos and bringing back some nice memories to me.

I love the picture of that house. Here in Traverse City where I live we have a whole section of town that is full of the Victorian homes that all the lumber barons built when they first came to town. They are so ornate and beautiful. They probably cost a bundle to maintain but they sure are fun to look at.

Great pictures of the old house. I love the nostalgia factor that goes with them.
