Rex, Why Do You Blog?
Yesterday, Kristine at the Outdoor Bloggers Summit asked a very important question. Why do you blog? I enjoyed her answer and here is mine.
Deer huntin’ guys
have always been a real close family
but lately some of my kin folks
have disowned a few others and me
i guess its because i kinda changed my direction
i guess i went and broke the family tradition
they get on me-wanna know Rex
why do you drink?
(Rex) why do you go huntin’?
Why must you live out the blogs that you wrote?
over and over
everybody made my prediction
so if i get stoned
I'm just carryin'
on an old family tradition
I am very proud
of my daddys name
although his kinda writin’
and mine ain't exactly the same
stop and think it over
put yourself in my position
if i go hunting and blog all night long
it's a family tradition
Don't ask me Rex
why do you drink?
(Rex) why do you go hunt?
Why must you live out the blogs that you wrote?
If I'm down in a Honky-Tonk
Some ol' slicks tryin to give me corrections
I'll say leave me alone
I'm bloggin’ all night long
it's a family tradition
Lordy, I have loved some ladies
and I have loved Jim Beam
and Thunderhoof tried to kill me
in 1973
when that doctor asked me
Son how did you get in this condition
I said hey sawbones I'm just carryin on
an old blogging tradition
So don't ask me Rex
why do you drink?
(Rex) why do you go hunt?
Why must you live out the blogs that you wrote?
Stop and think it over
Try and put yourself in my unique position
If I go hunting and blog all night long
It's a family tradition!

You've done it again! I love it, and you of course! Densie
I love Hank Williams Sr. too. My Dad grew up with Hank and they were close friends. My Dad and my Uncle were with Hank the weekend before he died. Needless to say I grew up listening to Hank.I remember the morning my Dad found out about Hanks death..that was a very sad day. Denise
Great post Rex the way only you can do it.
Hunting season is coming up and for some, like me, it's in full swing. That leaves little time to blog, let alone visit other bloggers. But today I made an exemption and I am glad I did. :)

Hey Rex- What a unique response to the question. I love Hank and Hank Jr.
Glad you are carryin' on that ol' family tradition.
I like your post Rex...very clever! As always..it brought a smile to my face! :)
And I think I know what Rex meant when he wrote about the deer camp days,
And old Othmar's, he's too busy to write about his Canadian hunting ways,
And Kristine's writin' about getting outsider herself more these days,
But everybody wants to shoot guns and get loud,
And all Rex's blogging friends are invited on down!
Good post Rex. Just for the Record for Yall down south, I have already shot my first goose on August 20th and Grouse hunting starts on Saturday and ducks and geese on the 26th of September.
