Hardy Boys, MS> Saturday we decided to wander over with the kids and inspect the old house, fondly called The Witchs' House, to see what kind of shape it is in. It is on it's last legs and the roof is now falling in. We cleared the brush back from the old corner bricks and looked at a marking that we had found a few years ago.
The top brick says 1908. The large lower brick says 1833. The old home has a lot of historical significance to the people in the area and we have explored it thoroughly. Even finding the hidden cellar underneath.
I inspected the rest of the pillars around the house and this large brick was the only one that had been mortared in on it's side. Very strange. I took the handle of my pocket knife and tapped on it. It sounded hollow behind the old brick. I think I need to take that brick out to preserve it. What do you think?
