500 POST

Today is post number 500. I think I still have a couple of thousand more in me. Thank you to all the people that have encouraged me and read me through this amount of time. To all my blogger friends, thank you. To the readers, especially someone in San Jose, CA and Corvallis, OR, and some military guys in San Diego that never leave comments but are faithful readers, thank you. Please come in from the cold and leave some comments, I would love to have your input and for you to be part of the fun. Under LABELS I have put my so-called ghost stories and favorite wild tales for y'all to read. FHB liked the car story and it is there too.
I have a bunch more and I get most of my bright ideas from you readers.

thank you Marian and thank you Ivan. Whether you are in Mississippi or Peru we all have a few things in common. We have our passion for hunting and the outdoors and the desire to write or blog. I look at it like we are all in it together and we are moving forward together.

Greetings from western OR, land of the Rio Grande/Merriam hybrid turkeys. Saw the first chicks with a hen 2 days ago. We still have 2 weeks left to hunt here, almost no competition, don't know why, maybe lack of tradition for hunting them like you folks down south. Also, they've only been around here for about 10-15 years or so.

Only 500...seems like I've been reading you forever!

Congrats on the milestone! I'll see what I can do to keep up.

Yay Rex! I've only been reading for a bit, but I enjoy your stories very much. Not everyone can tell a story the way you can.

I'm feeling rather left behind though. I'm only at just over 120 posts. Guess I have a lot of catching up to do.

Congrats on the 500. It is your way with telling a good story that draws the reader in close, as if we here there on the hunt with you that keeps bring us back.

Congratulations! Keep up the good work. As long as you keep on hunting, there will always be more stories to tell.

I was on the hunt yesterday. I hunted down the not-so-illusive weeds, poison ivy, polk salad (or is that poke salad). Weapon of choice, RoundUp in a 3 gallon sprayer.

I also slaughtered pounds of invading ivy and gave it a fitting burial in hallowed ground (next to the house).

I sat in my stand (kitchen) and observed the rabbit, turtle, birds and squirrels all eating and drinking from the same feeders.

Why can't the Sunni and Shia take a lesson from the critters?

Rex,
Congrats on #500. I have been a faithful reader since you turned me on to this site last year at Ashley Warren's wedding. I find your stories witty and well written. You seem to have found your place in this world. I would suggest a novel of family stories. I miss all of the old gang, but love to keep up by reading about them.
As an aside, Sherry and I graduated our oldest (Blake) from Ole Miss with a Bachelor's in Biology. He wilol start dental school this fall in Jackson. Our middle child Charlie has just completed his second year at Ole Miss and has decided he will become a slimy lawyer. Heaven help us! Our youngest, Megan, will graduate Friday from Oxford High and will attend Ole Miss in the fall. Tell Chief Tallahatchie that the Maharrey's said "hello".
